Living Room/Office with Built In Cabinets

Our 3rd house had the most marvelous built in cabinets in the  living room, quite frankly it was my favorite room in that house.  After having such convenient storage and display area, I really missed it when we moved into this house.  The living room was a lack luster area that to be honest was only used to house the Christmas tree come December.  So about 3 years ago, I just bit the bullet and had a cabinet maker come out and get started on this project.
Here is how it looked before.

And here is the after, I was positively thrilled with how it turned out.  The white of the cabinetry really brightens the room.  The french doors you see to the left, were added soon after we moved in.
This print is of the Boll Weevil Monument in Enterprise, Alabama, which happens to be my hometown as well as the artist, Stephen Malkoff.

For some time I had been looking for the perfect oyster art and after a trip to Scotts Antiques in Atlanta I finally had found it!  Originally, I had planned to put it in the powder room but for now it hangs here.

Literally for years, I had searched for a drop leaf table.  You can imagine my delight when I stumbled across this one in a local antique mall.

Typically, this table displays a seasonal vignette.  Maybe this weekend the Easter bunnies will make their appearance!

  1. There's no way around it - I simply adore built-in's. They always add so much to a room. Your living room is lovely. I must say that I'm coveting your couch and the oyster shell print. lol

  2. The best part about the ready to assemble cabinets is because they are convenient and not expensive. The cabinets can be bought directly online or from a local retailer and there is no need to pre-order. They can be brought in your home at once or you can ask that they can be delivered whenever you need them.
