Adding an Antique Tiered Server to the Dining Room

Have you ever seen something and just had to have it?  It was love at first sight when I saw a butler's cart at Scott's Antiques.  When I saw it that would ignite a fire that never has burned out!  If you follow me on Instagram you saw a pic of an 4 tiered antique shelf.  It was covered in junk and grim but through that I knew it could be a beauty.  Not exactly a butler's cart but, it was 25 bucks so the price was right and I believe it is close enough to work!

When I brought it home I moved it in almost every corner of the dining room.  I finally settled on a spot and began my fav part of styling.  But it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be.  So I stopped for a few days which turned into a few weeks and then a month thanks to the trip to Universal and then getting the flu.  Now I was looking at it with new perspective.  My first thought was I had to have art above it, but what?  Already having several prints and an oil painting I thought maybe a tole tray would work.

As soon as I found one which took a couple weeks, the tray went up on the wall and I was back to styling.  Yet I was almost drawing a blank...nothing I put on it worked.  Does this ever happen to you...you want something and then can't figure out what to do with it?  Then one afternoon I was flipping through the pages of one of my fav decorating books and there it was.  The perfectly styled butler's cart!  As my luck would have it the butler's cart was loaded with lots of Blue Willow, so I started working and pulling out all of my Blue Willow.  The only thing I didn't have were some etched wine glasses, a quick trip to a local thrift mall yielded 4.

I'm so pleased with how it turned out.  This might be my current fav spot in the house!

Be sure and pop back tomorrow to see the other corner of the dining room!

  3. What a treasure and what a great price! You have styled it beautifully! I have been looking for something similar to display my daughter's collection of Derby glasses. I would love to find one just like that for $25! If you decide you don't like it, let me know!
