In case you've wondered what happened to me on InstagramI thought I might should share. Mid June I got an email around 9pm that 2 factor authentication had been initiated. Then a second email that stated that the email had been changed. For the next few hours I was in an endless loop of trying to prove who I was, none of which worked. For days I worked via their AI bot chat to reclaim the page. Funny that I had been reading the book The Let Them Theory. This was not something I could just let them take over. In one way it was fortunate that they didn't post anything to the account but, that made it so that instagram didn't know or understand that I had indeed been hacked. I reached out to a blogger that I won't name in this post for advice, she too had her account hacked. She offered some advice and I debated for about a week. In the end I've hired a company to try and retrieve my account. Weve been close and if this is consulation the hacker has lost access to the account we believe. The problem is 2 factor authentication. So here is where I wanna just stop for a minute and tell you....if you don't have that turned on on all of your social media accounts stop reading right now and go do it! If you have an account that you want even more protection for pay for that blue check mark!!!! STAT!!!Go Right now and do that!
We believed we were close and then for whatever reason the Chat feature that I was able to use after I PAID for the blue check mark went away. The hired company believed I had opened something that allowed that...like a link that was corrupted or whatever.
See this is where I don't get it. I NEVER open emails or text if I don't know who sent it. I literally have no idea how the hacker even found my 1400+ follower account. I simply don't open stuff. At any rate, I still do not have my account, I've now been in contact with my state's attorney general so who knows how this will all turn out. I hope that you stick with me. I've setup an alternate account on instagram called
positivelysoutherngirl.....I'm not gonna put a link cause who knows what could go on with that...sorry!
