We officially welcome summer in with a cookout over the Memorial Day weekend. Over the years and across the many miles we have traveled/lived we have played host to countless cookouts for the holiday weekend. This year will be no different. So days before, I try to pull out all of my stuff and begin to play around with the table.
When I stand at the table and begin, I usually start with the linens. While I try to change it up and keep it fresh each year there are elements that will always make an appearance. How could I not use those salad plates, they have been mainstay since finding them in Oklahoma some 10+ years ago.
New this year are these absolutely fabulous beaded flag place mats from Pier 1 Imports. As soon as I saw them in our planner at work there was no doubt they were coming home with me!
I almost hated to to cover them up with the blue metal charger and the red sparkle glass charger but...
These napkin rings had me as soon as they unpacked them this past week!
The centerpiece is something that I try to keep simple. The barley twist compote coupled with a hurricane and a few red, white and blue beads complete the look.
Be sure to stop back by later in the week to see the kitchen all decked out for Memorial Day!
