The Foyer

Ages ago, I promised a tour of our foyer.  Well here I am finally getting that done, better late than never right?!  The furnishings that are in the foyer are probably some of my most favorite pieces.  The french Louis XVI chest is without a doubt the prettiest piece in the entire house!  While living in Oklahoma I found a darling little antique store in Waurika and this piece screamed my name. Sadly, I do not know any of the history of this piece. The inlay work is positively gorgeous.  I like to say she is a show stopper!

The lamp that sits on the chest is a recent purchase. Knowing that I had been looking for a tole lamp for quite sometime, while in Montgomery Antiques friend N found this beauty and brought it home to me.  Let's just say I have lamp love now.  It is a known fact that I adore any and all prints that have boats/ships in them. While shopping at Scott's Antiques last fall I knew that I must have the little oil painting that hangs directly above the chest.  And of course there must be some Staffordshire!

On the wall to the side of the chest are Alison Evans oyster plates literally make my heart skip a beat along with another oil painting that I picked up here locally.  The color in the painting and the oyster plates together make my heart sing.

After becoming absolutely obsessed with Charles Faudree this past year I strive to create looks just like he has in his books.  So you all know there had to be a barometer in this house somewhere.  This cutie was just waiting to come home with me from one of the many shops in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

About a year ago, I found these shelves or brackets as my designer refers to them at dare... I say...T.J.Maxx.  The prints above them were giving to me by my Mother In Law.  For some reason Honey doesn't care for them so he required that they be moved out of the master so I thought they'd be perfect over the brackets.

I continue to look for rugs to no avail but I've vowed that I WILL find something soon!

On many an afternoon I can be found sitting in the adjoining living room just gazing at the foyer...the view makes me happy for sure.

  6. I love every picture you post of your house! Gorgeous! I purchased sea grass rugs from Overstock as a temporary solution and then found that I loved them so much, I stopped looking for a perfect rug. I have the basketweave style with a tan border, but this style is just as pretty and looks to be cheaper. I sometimes layer an oriental or a zebra throw over my seagrass in the winter. I've been told that you can take these outside and hose them down, but I've nver tried. Mine vacuum just fine. Just a thought! http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-woven-Sisal-Natural-Beige-Seagrass-Rug-6-Square/4760640/product.html?refccid=OREJ4VQUBISZOSCIRQIA3AWLCM&searchidx=9
