The Dining Room Updated

Not long ago it occurred to me that I had not  shared the entire updated dining room. Truth is, last week by a complete coincidence I saw my dining room on some one's pinterest board and realized then I needed to share the update.

The furniture was purchased many years ago while we were living in Virginia.  I made rather a snap decision with the selection as we were hosting Honey's work folks for a Christmas party.  All these years later I still am happy with it!

Be sure and notice my dinner gong over beside the stairs. I found it at Sweet Home Antiques, I just love knowing that it came from England.

The foot bath and the silver candle holders were a find over in Pine Mountain and I absolutely think they could be my fav things in the entire house...

well maybe
just today anyway.

The plant stand is a new old purchase.  After my last visit to Sweet Home Plantation I saw that they had 2 that flanked a chest in their dining room.  I knew right then I had to have one.  Got lucky one afternoon at my fav junk store and they had this lovely empire styled stand.  I keep looking for the perfect urn to sit on top but alas I've not found one as of yet.

The Staffordshire pair on the brackets just happens to be one of my fav of all my pieces.  The Victorian wooden frames were a Christmas gift from Sister and I couldn't love them more!

The tea cart along with the silver tea service were finds over at Chipley Market in Pine Mountain, GA.  The art above it is very old and the frames are somewhat fragile but I adore the prints inside them.

The rug I blogged about here.  It was a freebie from last year's trip to Haven!

This piece was purchased new when we were living out west in Oklahoma.  It has sat in our foyers in the other homes but this seems to work just fine here in the dining room.  I adore decanters and you will see them absolutely all over the house, I especially like ones that have cork stoppers.

The oil painting was a gift from Honey for our 10th wedding anniversary. He knows how I adore the beach and he said as soon as he saw it that it reminded him of me with the boys(at that point only Andrew was old enough to have actually been to the beach, John was a newborn).  He is a keeper!

I will leave you with a shot of the dining room from the stairs.  The progress we've made in this room is very satisfying.  If you would like you can see the before post right here.

  3. It's refreshing to me to see that someone else has wood furniture that hasn't been painted and doesn't have an all white house! I love your collected treasures, especially the gong!

  4. Tamyra, Your dining room is so pretty. I like the chandelier and the soft blue wall color. Your new rug looks perfect in there! It goes so well with the paint color. You have really accumulated a beautiful collection of antiques and artwork. Kathy
